Ægir & Rán

These pieces of music were composed shortly after taking a very cold swim in the sea at Seatown Beach, Dorset. It interests me whether this music was in-fact conceived when swimming and I very much doubt it would of been created if I had not been in the water.

The tracks feature electric guitar, bass, an analog delay and a noisy instrument cable. The guitars and bass were recorded in one take. They are not perfect by any means but seem to convey what I was feeling at the time. It did not feel right that I should do loads of takes, it was simply a memory of the water pouring out. I very much like the idea that our lived experience can be captured within recorded sound and, conversely, it could so easily not happen.

Ægir & Rán are the god and goddess of the sea in Norse mythology. Together Ægir & Rán had nine daughters who personify the waves.
